Good People of Birmingham

Belts began their history in men's clothing during the Bronze age.  Greeks and Romans used belts to carry weapons and soldiers of  East European and Russian armies even wore waist cinching belts.  The belt came into fashion for women in the 17th century and became popular in the 19th century with the introduction of the skirt and blouse combination.  The 80's brought back the belt as a fashion statement and is now being revisited as a mega fashion accessory.  I believe in 2012 we will see utilitarian focuses on women's belts in fashion.
